SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -

A tense stand-off between a suspected bank robber and salt lake city police ended peacefully on Thursday.

Police received a report of the robbery at 10 a.m. Thursday morning, and were told the suspect was wearing a motorcycle helmet covered by a cloth.

The alleged bank robber initially fled the scene, but was found by police about a block away from the bank. He was uncooperative during arrest and a bomb squad was called in after police became suspicious of wires found under the man's clothing while he was being taken into custody.

Police sent in a bomb squad and blocked off the area, positioning snipers on a nearby roof while a bomb squad robot worked to remove the vest.

The vest was successfully removed after more than 3 hours, and the suspect was taken into custody.

No word on if the vest was actually a bomb.
