SPOKANE, Wash. -

Shots rang out Monday night in a parking lot on Market Street in the Hillyard Grocery store parking lot near Wildhorse park. Witnesses told police that shots were fired after a fight broke out in the parking lot.

Police say no one was hurt in the shooting, but witnesses were shaken up by what happened, especially because this type of thing doesn't happen in the area.

"It definitely didn't sound like a gunshot at all," said Joshua Jacob, who was working at a Verizon store at the time.

Another witness, Jade Alford, says she saw people running in every direction and ducking behind cars.

"I look up and probably 14 or 15 people were just running from their cars," said Jacob.

Before clearing the scene, police canvassed the area and checked surveillance video from surrounding businesses. A K-9 unit was also brought in to investigate who may have been involved. No suspects have been found. The investigation is ongoing.

If you have any information, you're asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Feel like you have to keep swatting bugs away when you've been walking outside this week? What you might be calling gnats, are really blue ash aphids. And right now they are more active than ever, because it's mating season. KHQ met a couple who noticed the blue ash aphids right when they started their walk in the park.

MONTREAL (AP) - Canada's decision to legalize marijuana could influence other countries as they mull whether to end their own bans on the drug.    Drug law reform advocates say the nation's status as a major economy and a good international partner lends additional weight to its decision. Legal sales began Wednesday as more than 110 legal pot shops opened across Canada.
