Police: Bomb found in Coeur d'Alene motel room

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

Update: Coeur d'Alene Police say the incident at Budget Saver Motel has been resolved. Officers are still investigating the incident, but say the scene will be cleared and that it is safe for residents to return to the area.

Coeur d'Alene Police say a bomb was found in a room of the Budget Saver Motel at 16th and Sherman in Coeur d'Alene.

The incident started around 2 o'clock in the afternoon when motel management found a suspicious device inside one of the rooms. Police say that device was similar to a pipe bomb.

Officers say the tenant was in the process of being evicted from the room.

Police are currently waiting for the Spokane regional bomb squad to arrive on the scene and take a closer look at the device. They are also trying to get in contact with the suspect.

16th Street is blocked off from Sherman to Lakeside. Police are advising people to avoid the area.

    COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - Coeur d'Alene Police are investigating a reported school shooting threat at Coeur d'Alene High School. A spokesperson for the district said that the threat was written on a napkin and shared  on Snapchat. It says: "CHS school shooting 10-19-18. Be ready." Police tell us that while they are still investigating whether the threat is credible, they do not believe the CHS that the note mentions is referring to Coeur d'Alene High School.

    Ramsey Elementary and Coeur d' Alene Police station have been evacuated after an explosive device was brought to the station for disposal. Police have called in a bomb squad to dispose of the device and evacuated the buildings as a precaution. Coeur d' Alene School District released the following statement regarding the situation:

    SPOKANE, Wash. - After struggling with medical issues recently, retired Spokane County Sheriff's Office K9 Laslo passed away early Friday morning.  "It is with the most heavy heart that I tell you K9 Laslo passed away this morning at 0115hrs," a post on Laslo's Facebook page said Friday morning. "There will be a piece of my heart always missing. To the best partner I ever had, R.I.P."

    A Montana man has been convicted of burglary after he was accused of stealing an ATM from a Helena bar and restaurant, putting it in the back of a pickup and leading deputies on a high-speed chase. The Independent Record reports Cory Robert Franklin of Helena was sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay $11,000 in restitution Thursday after his conviction.

It says prescription pills and open containers of alcohol were found inside the dump truck.

Detroit police Chief James Craig said he's "stunned" by the grisly discovery.
