VIDEO: Dog rescued from bluff

Posted: Updated:
SANTA MONICA, California-  Firefighters had their work cut out for them as they tried to coax a stranded dog out of a crevice high above the beach.
Traffic was stopped along the Pacific Coast highway as the daring rescue took place. The dog was perched about half way up the side of a cliff inside a crevice.

At first, the scared dog appeared to resist the firefighters who were positioned on a tall ladder. But eventually, they managed to remove the dog from the steep bluff and get him safely to the ground.

The dog was finally reunited with its owner and they took off to a crowd of onlookers.

It's still unclear how the dog became stuck on the side of the cliff.
