COLFAX, Wash. - The man accused of murdering three people, and injuring a fourth, appeared in a Whitman County courtroom Tuesday morning for his extradition hearing.

John Lee was arrested in Whitman County, but prosecutors say the murders happened in Moscow, Idaho. Prosecutors have been working to extradite him back to Idaho to face the murder charges.

But on Tuesday, prosecutors requested, and were granted, a delay. The issue is that to get Lee to Idaho, Governor Butch Otter has to put forth a formal request to Washington Governor Jay Inslee. Prosecutors say the paperwork for that request has been mailed, but has not yet been received.

Lee is accused of killing his mother, Terri Grzbielski, businessman David Trail, and the manager of a Moscow-area Arby's, Belinda Niebuhr. On Tuesday, Niebuhr's friends and coworkers were in court for Lee's extradition hearing. After the delay was requested they said they were frustrated with how slow the process has been.

Lee's new extradition review has been set for March 6.
