WALLACE, Idaho - KHQ spoke with the Shoshone County Sheriff Thursday morning. He told us his office will not be actively pursuing escaped convict Roy Bieluch, 48,  until they have more information on his possible whereabouts.

Bieluch's girlfriend, Rachel Johnson, remains in custody. She will appear before a judge Thursday afternoon to face an Aiding in a Felony charge. The sheriff believes she helped Bieluch escape. But Johnson told KHQ that didn't happen. She doesn't know where he is, and was with family at the time of his escape.

Sheriff Mitch Alexander says Bieluch, who had been jailed on burglary charges, escaped by working his way through a ceiling crawl space in a utility room to reach the lobby. He says one employee and a trainee were working at the jail when Bieluch escaped Tuesday night. He says funding limitations led to the staffing levels.

Bieluch hasn't been found, and a nationwide warrant has been issued for his arrest.

If you know anything about Roy Bieluch's whereabouts you're asked to call the Shoshone County Sheriff's office at (208) 556-1114.
