SPOKANE, Wash. -

Twenty-five years of opportunity. The Arc of Spokane and Avista are celebrating a quarter of a century partnership that provides meaningful employment opportunities to people who have developmental disabilities.

"Nobody's treated any different," says Todd Jensen, a job coach for Arc of Spokane. "The word disability, it's an ability."

Jensen is one of two job coaches who oversee the nine developmentally disabled employees working in the Investment Recovery Department of Avista.

"A lot of them like routine so I have everything set up for them before they come in," says Jensen.

The duties vary from sorting different material, packaging, and recycling to working forklifts.

"It's my favorite job," says 26-year-old Taylor Cartwright who has been employed in the IR department since 2009. When asked how long he plans to be with the company he responded, "probably until I retire."

"The guys enjoy coming to work and we work really well as a group," says Barry Pasicznyk who coordinates the IR building. "We've got some really good skill sets in here. I think it's awesome. I don't see something like this ever going away."
