Burmese immigrant faces murder charges in killing of 3 boys

Police say a Burmese immigrant has been charged with murder in the stabbing deaths of three young brothers, ages 1, 5 and 12.

Police in the coastal city of New Bern said Wednesday that 18-year-old Eh Lar Doh Htoo was charged with three counts of murder in the knife attack on a Burmese family that lived in his neighborhood.

Htoo also wounded the brothers' mother and their 14-year-old sister. Police said they don't know a motive for the attack or whether Htoo has an attorney.

His first court appearance was scheduled for Friday.

San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Bachman says the shooting occurred Friday morning in the Muscoy area, east of Los Angeles. The girl died at a hospital. Bachman says adults were home at the time of the accident. Both children lived at the house.

The World Trade Organization on Friday agreed to investigate the U.S. Trade Representative's complaint over Canada's retail wine sale restrictions. U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., says regulations in Canada currently ban imported wines from store shelves in British Columbia. But if the U.S. prevails in this dispute, Canada will have to roll back its restrictions.
