STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - An emergency room physician at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Spokane was arrested in Stevens County on Monday, accused of child rape. Dr. Craig Morgenstern is being charged with Second Degree Rape of a Child. >>
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Washington State Secretary of Health announced on Monday that Dr. Craig Morgenstern's osteopathic license has been permanently revoked due to Morgenstern facing sexual misconduct with a child charges.

Morgenstern was arrested in October 2014 in Stevens County and is being accused of drugging a 13-year-old boy and raping him. After his arrest, additional federal charges were brought against Morgenstern that include three counts of Travel with Intent to Engage in Illicit Sexual Contact with a Child, each carrying a maximum prison sentence of 30 years. He is also facing four counts of Production of Child Pornography, with each count carrying a sentence of 30 years to life in prison.

Morgenstern's license was suspended on January 8, 2015 and as the revocation process comes to a close, Morgenstern has no right to reapply for an osteopathic license in Washington.

In a federal court appearance last month, the judge called the evidence against Morgenstern "voluminous", and the prosecution said the victim count is now up to six kids. Though the court wanted to move forward with trial, the judge granted the defense more time and pushed his trial back until September.
