NOBLEBORO, Maine - A woman in Maine is facing aggravated assault and driving under the influences charges after she ran over her boyfriend last weekend after she says she walked in on him allegedly trying to sexually assault a 12-year-old girl.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office in Maine said 53-year-old Lindsay Currier and 48-year-old convicted sex offender James Oliver began fighting after Currier saw the attempted assault. That argument apparently continued outside of the home where deputies said Currier ran over Oliver with a car. Oliver was transported to the hospital with a serious leg injury. Currier was arrested for the assault. Deputies said there were other adults in the home at the time of the argument and all of them had been drinking.

Following treatment at the hospital, Oliver was arrested and charged with attempted gross sexual misconduct, unlawful sexual touching and failing to comply with the sex offender registration act for not updating his address. Oliver has a previous conviction for sexual abuse of a minor and rape.

The 12-year-old girl did not receive an injuries requiring medical attention and she is now being cared for by family.
