SPOKANE, Wash. -

We think Mother Nature has forgotten once again what month it is... Here the 6th of April and we are still mentioning the dreaded four letter word... snow. Apparently we flip-flopped April and have back-tracked to February. Thankfully it seems in the coming days warmer weather is back on the way.

Today - WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES in effect until 11AM for areas above 2,500ft for 1-3" of snow and in the mountains 3-6" of snow. Downtown Spokane sits at about 1,900ft but a light dusting to just a mix of rain/snow is not out of the question. By noon temperatures will be only rain in for much of the region with showers tapering off by late this evening. Highs today will only be into the mid 40's so stay warm!

Tomorrow - much more "Spring" like weather is back to the region. Few AM showers possible in the mountains, going to partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 50's.

Satellite & Radar - the jet stream is moving south to north right over Western Montana allowing for colder air to slide in from the north giving us these cooler temps and active weather. By Tuesday evening, a weak ridge of high pressure returns and we will start to see sunshine and warmer temperatures through Friday.

7 Day Forecast - Upper 50's to low 60's starting Wednesday will continue through Friday. However, by Saturday another fast moving system with showers and breezy conditions move through the area with temps dropping into the low 50's once again.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Cobwebs hang from the exposed pipes running along the ceiling of a dimly lit, dirty basement. The underground labyrinth is used as storage space at Mount Saint Michael’s Academy in Spokane. But several decades ago it served as a safe haven. During the Cold War, the Office of Civil Defense designated the basement at Saint Michael’s as one of hundreds of fallout shelters throughout the city.
