KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho - If you are looking for a new job, the Idaho Department of Correction is holding a series of job fairs during April and May. 


Correctional officers receive a starting rate of $13.27 an hour with benefits, and an increase to $14.05 an hour after a successful probation period. 


The fairs will be held at the following local Labor offices and community locations:

Orofino: April 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 410 Johnson Ave.

Lewiston: April 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 1158 Idaho St.

Kamiah Visitor's Center: April 13, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., 518 Main St.

Post Falls: April 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 600 N. Thornton St.

Moscow: April 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 1350 Troy Road, Suite 1

Moscow: May 14, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Bruce M. Pitman Center, 709 Deakin Ave.

    POST FALLS, Idaho - The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says a 40-year-old Post Falls man is in critical condition after falling off his inner tube on the Spokane River Saturday evening.  Deputies responded to the Corbin Park area for a report of a possible drowning at around 6:00 p.m. Witnesses say the man had fallen off his inner tube and not resurfaced.

(AP) - Authorities say a Northern California firefighter was mauled in the face by a pit bull after helping extinguish a house fire.    The East Bay Times reports Alameda County Fire Battalion Chief John Whiting received "extremely severe facial damage" in the attack Saturday in San Leandro.    Division Chief Alan Evans says Whiting required extensive reconstructive surgery.
