VIDEO: Carjacker hospitalized after victim and good samaritan fight back

Posted: Updated:
SMYRNA, Georgia-  An attempted carjacking didn't go as planned when the victim decided to fight back.  The driver stopped at the car wash with no idea that the four men inside a nearby van were targeting her, waiting for her to step away.

Security footage shows them casing her and when she stepped back from the car, the men climbed in and attempted to take off but she wasn't going to let then get away.  The woman jumped on the hood of her car, then a good samaritan stepped in.  He pulled out his pistol and opened fire. A witness named Chris Roberts watched it happen. 'I heard the guy shoot the carjacker and then I saw him fall out of the car and he was shaking, holding his chest, and then he just falls onto the floor.'

The carjacker was taken to the hospital in serious condition.  Roberts says, 'It's great to see people willing to go out of their way to help somebody else out. I love to see it.'  The good samaritan waited for police and then went on with his day.
