SPOKANE, Wash. - The man accused of trying to abduct a 13-year-old girl last week in the Shadle Park area made his first court appearance on Tuesday.

Bail for 51-year-old Keith Hooks was set at $50,000 as he faces charges of Indecent Liberties and Unlawful Imprisonment.

Court documents released on Tuesday stated Hooks walked up to the girl outside of a coffee shop and tried to make small talk. The girl got up, left the table and began walking away. The victim said Hooks followed her and wouldn't leave her alone, despite multiple requests. The victim says Hooks asked her if she wanted to go behind Walmart and have sex with him. As she refused and began to walk away, she says Hooks grabbed her arm and would not let her go. She says he then grabbed her breast, squeezed it, and refused to stop.

When police arrived on scene, they saw Hooks with his arm around the girl. Hooks told the officers he thought the girl was cold and had his arm around her to warm her up.

Police say the surveillance video shows the girl trying to get away from Hooks, and even grabbing her.

Hooks' next court appearance will come at his arraignment on April 21, 2015.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Cobwebs hang from the exposed pipes running along the ceiling of a dimly lit, dirty basement. The underground labyrinth is used as storage space at Mount Saint Michael’s Academy in Spokane. But several decades ago it served as a safe haven. During the Cold War, the Office of Civil Defense designated the basement at Saint Michael’s as one of hundreds of fallout shelters throughout the city.
