Pine Leaf Fire burning near Laclede, Idaho 100 percent contained

LACLEDE, Idaho -

Update: 10:40 p.m.: The Idaho Department of Lands says the Pine Leaf fire burning near Laclede, Idaho, is 100 percent contained on Thursday night. The fire burned a total of 13 acres. Fire crews will remain on scene overnight.

Update: 8:55 p.m.: Firefighters continue to fight the Pine Leaf fire in Laclede, Idaho, Thursday night. At last report the fire had burned between 15 and 20 acres. It is not spreading.

There is no word yet on containment, but firefighters, with the help of aircraft got a good handle on it before nightfall. Crews are protecting a few nearby homes and barns in the area. No structures have been lost.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Update: 5:45 p.m.: Sandpoint Police are asking drivers as well as boaters to avoid the area due to the brush fire. Highway 2 near mile post 13.3 between Priest River and Laclede will have police and firefighters in the area. Boats should also avoid the area as about a half mile of the river will be shut down for planes fighting the fire from the air.

A fire is burning east of the community of Laclede, Idaho. Glenda Scott with the Idaho Forest Service says the fire has burned between 15 and 20 acres since it broke out around 3 p.m.

The Forest Service says as of Thursday afternoon the fire seems to be moving away from Laclede. Air units have been called in and are currently using the Pend Oreille River to help fight the fire. Additional ground crews have also been called in.

There are currently no evacuations in place as a result of this fire  and no homes are in immediate danger.
