KAMIAH, Idaho -

Lightning from a thunderstorm Thursday afternoon sparked several wildfires in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The largest, called the Center Ridge Fire, located between the Salmon and Snake Rivers, is 23 acres.

The storm brought cooler temperatures and heavy rain to some areas, stalling growth of three fires already burning in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.

Aircraft and crews on the ground fought the Center Ridge Fire for several hours after the fire was reported Thursday afternoon. The fire, visible from Highway 95 on Thursday, is located about four miles southwest of Slate Creek Ranger Station.

On Friday, 42 firefighters, supported by aircraft were working on the fire.

Forest Service officials say the storm could result in more fires, as trees hit by lightning smolder into flames in the coming days, but  cooler weather over the weekend, with showers and thunderstorms in the area through Monday, will help deter flare-ups.

SPOKANE, Wash. - From the outside, the Repeat Boutique looks like a lot of other thrift shops in Spokane.  Inside, some might describe the stuff for sale as old, used, discarded garbage -- but store manager CJ Curtis sees its potential. And just like the goods in her shop, CJ is on her way to a new life, one far from the one she once lived.
