Man injured in I-90 wrong-way crash passes away from injuries

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

Ron Morrison, one of the people injured in the multi-vehicle crash on I-90, passed away from his injuries Thursday morning at Sacred Heart.

Ron was driving one of the four vehicles involved in the crash on Tuesday when a wrong-way driver, identified as wrong-way 24-year-old Carrah Goble of Wenatchee, entered the freeway heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-90 near the Division St. exit and collided head-on with another car. That car then collided with a third car, a 1974 2-door Volkswagon that Morrison was driving. Morrison's car rolled and he was ejected from the vehicle.

Morrison was severely injured and rushed to the hospital, where he received extensive treatment. He was announced deceased on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the hospital.

Following the crash, Goble fled the scene on foot and was picked up by a passerby who thought Goble was in distress. That driver took Goble to a nearby 7-11, where she was arrested by Troopers. She has been charged with Vehicular Assault but following Morrison's death, charges will likely be reviewed and upgraded.

Morrison was 39-years-old from Medical Lake. He was an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 304 and an active member of the Spokane community.

Ron Morrison's family originally started a GoFundMe Account to cover his medical expenses. Sadly the funds donated will also now cover funeral costs.

The crash closed eastbound lanes of I-90 for seven hours. Goble was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry. Washington State Patrol detectives are asking anyone who may have seen Goble prior to the wreck to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
