ST. JOHN, Wash. -

Sisters Valerie Brewer and Jessie Loomis love their town. They're fifth generation St. John residents, and describe their hometown as "Small, but proud."

They grew up playing at the one park in St. John, just like their mom. Now, they take their kids there. That's why they were so upset by the news that the playground equipment was being torn out.  St. John's mayor, K.B. Trunkey, says most of the structures at the park are too old and a liability. Unfortunately, the city doesn't have the money to replace the equipment they're taking out. Since there is only one park, that would leave the kids of St. John out of luck.

But Valerie and Jessie aren't going down without a fight. They know how important it is for this small town to be appealing to families with young kids. Brewster says that high land prices have driven out many small farms. Many of the people Brewer grew up with migrated out of the small town after high school. Now, she understands the importance of keeping families in town, and the park is one of the few activities for kids.

"It's the only thing that we have. There's no bowling alley, there's no movie theater. There's nothing for the kids." Valerie explained.

So the sisters took matters into their own hands. They started raising money any way they could. They even collected spare change. And those coins added up to some real change for the community. Ten thousand dollars, to be exact. They need about $45,000 total to replace the equipment being taken out.

"We love it here," Loomis said. "The park is the heart of it for the kids."

If you don't live in town but you want to donate, you can contribute to their GoFundMe account: gofundme.com/sp4ty4nc

SPOKANE, Wash. - Randall and Jill Kimberling didn’t think it would happen to their child. KHQ.COM - When you party with Jay-Z, just make sure you don't get stuck with the bill.  During a night out in Manhattan, he reportedly racked up a tab totaling $91,135 (tip included) at one bar! How much of that was a tip?  $11,100! Which means his server Dayhana is probably the most grateful the rapper chose to celebrate at the Playroom Lounge in NYC.
