SPOKANE, Wash. -

As a crowd gathered near Nevada and Lyons Friday morning, our reporters arrived to find out why they were all looking up at a tree: there was a bear in it. Just chilling out. Taking naps and waking up every so often to look around.

Soon, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office and Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife arrived on scene. Wildlife officers tranquilized the bear and another officer actually climbed up the tree to help retrieve the bear once the tranquilizer kicked in.

The officer was able to get the bear down, and wildlife officers will now take the bear to an undisclosed location to release it.
