SPOKANE, Wash. -

Some may want to run indoors for this soggy Halloween, but there are options to celebrate the holiday inside. One of them was at the historic Campbell House in Browne’s Addition.

It’s their first year hosting a Halloween event. They have a scavenger hunt, crafts for kids, and also learning opportunities for adults.

“We weren't sure how much the Campbells celebrated Halloween, but we found out that they did celebrate Halloween, at least Helen did,” says Logan Camporeale, Campbell House volunteer coordinator.

Helen was the daughter.

"We have in her diary that she attended two different Halloween parties. One in 1913, and One in 1915."

The house is lit, but not well, so they recommend bringing flashlights.

"We wanted to sort of add that educational component but also keep it really fun,” Camporeale says.

So, do they expect the ghosts of Campbell to come out on Halloween?

“People often ask about the ghosts of the Campbells and we don't have any hard evidence to say that they're here, but people often want to know about it and I just encourage you to come here and see what you find for yourself,” he says.

If the event is a success, they plan on doing it again next year and possibly even incorporate some living history.
