SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

Major Crimes Detectives with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office are investigating a homicide that happened Tuesday in Spokane Valley.

Deputies responded to a fight between two men at a home in the 14800 block of East Queen Avenue, just west of East Valley High School at around 10:45 a.m. Deputies say the husband/homeowner came home from a trip and found his wife inside of the house with another man. An argument ensued and turned physical when the boyfriend struck the husband with a golf club several times before fleeing out of a window.

Responding deputies never found the boyfriend.

About two hours later, deputies were called back to the house for a report of two men fighting. Deputies found the husband outside, who said he didn't need medical assistance, but said there was a man inside the home who did need help.

Deputies went inside and found the man, who was the boyfriend from the previous call. The boyfriend was awake and bleeding, but incoherent. The man was taken to a hospital where later in the evening he was pronounced dead.

The husband, who is cooperating with investigators, said the man returned to the house after the first fight, forced his way in, and another fight began.

Detectives are investigating this incident and working to determine if a crime was committed or if it was self-defense. The name of the husband has not been released.

The name of the boyfriend, along with the manner of death, will be released at a later time by the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office.
