SPOKANE, Wash. -

As we settle in for a cold few nights, be sure to check on your neighbors, especially if they’re seniors.

Those who have oxygen machines will not b able to get oxygen because the machines require electricity. There have already been a few close calls with the recent windstorm.

Thelma Blakely has to be on oxygen all the time. She's using these oxygen tanks now because of the power outage.

But Tuesday night was a scary moment for her.

“Then all of a sudden, I’m sitting here and everything went black and my machine started, oh lord, it started beeping, beeping, beeping,” Thelma says.

Her machine stopped working. She had to go to the hospital.

“I was terrified when I went to the hospital and I see this guy walking down the hall with three of these oxygen tanks,” she says.

That man was Brandon Eller with Pacific Pulmonary Services. He isn't her regular provider for oxygen, but Thelma says he brought her the tanks just in time. She was running out.

“I think I scared him a little bit ago because I hyperventilated and I trembled,” she says.

Brandon hopes others will look out for their neighbors.

“You see that they're on oxygen, just take note of that little nuance because that little nuance in a moment like yesterday, it can be a matter of life or death,” he says.

Thelma is grateful for him.

“I think if god ever sent an angel to me, there's one. Right there. Brandon,” she says.

If you or someone you know needs oxygen and can’t get those resources, Brandon says call the provider immediately and ask for help.
