Spokane Police are trying to nab a puppy thief who was caught in the act on surveillance video.
On Monday, a woman went into the Northwest Seed and Pet store on Division, walked up to the puppy pen, put an 8-week-old black and brown Miniature Pinscher mix into her purse and walked out.
The store's evening manager, Sam Longanecker says it's unsettling because the $299 price of the puppy might not be the only cost the thief is trying to avoid.
"I want to see the puppy returned so we can get it to a good home," he said. "If you're going to steal a puppy, what are you going to do if it gets sick? What are you going to feed it?"
The puppy is from a litter of 4, and as of Tuesday night there was only one left at the store.
Longanecker says the woman had come to the store before, but she wasn't a regular.
If you have any idea who she is, please call Crimecheck at (509)456-2233.
