SPOKANE, Wash. -

Winners of the Lego Contest Awards were announced Sunday at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture. The contest was held during the museum's ongoing exhibit, Lego Connects: Lego Brick Sculptures. Visitors to the exhibit voted on their favorite local Lego builds since the exhibit opened on November 14.

Eighth grader Ainsley Bauer, who attends South Side Christian School, took home the "Best in Show" award for her sculpture called "My Family's Childhood Memories." She made a record player built entirely of Lego bricks. Her grand prize victory means she won a $500 gift certificate to White Elephant and her choice of the giant Lego figurines in the museum lobby. She can take one home when the exhibit closes in February. The 14-year-old also won first prize in her age group, which brings with it a $150 gift certificate to Target.

The Lego Connects exhibit, featuring nature-themed sculptures by New York City artist Sean Kenney, goes until February 7th. The local sculptures will remain on display until February 7th as well.

Fire lined vs. fire containment: What's the difference?

    Wednesday, July 18 2018 1:48 PM EDT2018-07-18 17:48:19 GMT

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - We've had a lot of questions about what firefighters  are talking about when they say that the fire is 100 percent lined, but that the Upriver-Beacon fire is 0% contained. Here's the gist, according to firefighters: Containment is essentially their faith in the strength of the fire line. So when they say there is a line around 100 percent of the fire, but 0 percent containment, it means they are concerned that the fire could jump the line.
