SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane Police released more than an hour of body camera video related to an October 12, 2015 officer-involved shooting in an effort to increase transparency.

The department used to wait until the prosecutor was done with their investigation before they started their own internal investigation, however at a press conference on Wednesday, the department's Director of Strategic Initiatives Tim Schwering said the department will now be releasing all of its information on incidents where deadly force is used as soon as possible.

Video released of the October shooting, where domestic violence suspect Jason Smith was shot after he rammed his truck into an officer's patrol car.

“If he tries to break through - lethal force,” Officer Chris McMurtrey can be heard saying to fellow officers Stanley Stadelman and Joseph Matt.

Shortly after that, video shows Smith pushing the patrol car and all three officer open fire. In all 19 rounds were fired, and Smith was hit three times, once in the chest and twice in the face.

Smith has yet to appear in court on the charges related to the case, but he has been released from the hospital. After investigating the shooting, Spokane County Sheriff's Detective Tim Ricketts turned in his findings to the prosecutor's office with a recommendation of assault charges against Smith. Ricketts also recommended no charges be filed against the officers. The Spokane County Prosecutor's Office has not yet announced if it will seek criminal charges against the officers involved.

Officers were called to the home where Smith was staying just after midnight on October 12 after a family member said he had dragged him across the floor and caused property damage.

HELSINKI (AP) - Standing next to Russia’s Vladimir Putin, President Donald Trump openly questioned his own intelligence agencies’ conclusions that Moscow was to blame for meddling in the 2016 U.S. election to Trump’s benefit and seemed to accept Putin’s insistence that Russia’s hands were clean.
