SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Spokane man arrested for murder on Saturday, December 26, made his first court appearance Monday afternoon. Brian Hall, 43, was arrested and charged with 1st degree murder. Spokane Police found him hours after they say he shot and killed Demetrius Dennis, 38.

It all started Saturday night at a home Dennis shared with his girlfriend in the 400 block of West Central Avenue. According to court documents Dennis and his girlfriend hosted a party earlier in the day, and planned to host another party that evening. At around 7:45 p.m. the couple heard a knock on their door.

The girlfriend, who was holding the couple's 2-month-old baby, asked Dennis to answer the door. He opened the door, and she says she saw her ex-boyfriend standing at the open doorway wearing a white coat and black beanie. In court docs she says she watched Brian Hall raise a gun and fire one shot, then saw Dennis grab his chest, turn, and run to the back of the home. She says Hall then came inside the home and pointed the gun at her. She was still holding her baby, and she says Hall took notice of that and left.

She then ran to find Dennis, who had left a trail of blood leading outside to the backyard. She called 911 and stayed with him until paramedics showed up.

When police arrived she told them she knew exactly who shot her boyfriend. She said it was her ex-boyfriend, Brian Hall. She said Hall and Dennis had had issues in the past. Neighbors said they saw someone in a white coat casing the home earlier in the evening. Detectives also found footprints in the snow leading away from the home, down an alley, and to Francis Ave.

Dennis' girlfriend was able to give detectives contact information for family members of Hall, including Hall's son who said his father had just called him and said he was in trouble, and that he'd just shot someone.

Family was able to direct police to where Hall was staying, at the Knight's Motel in Spokane. Detectives showed up and arrested Hall. They also found a bullet hole in the motel room where he was staying.

LOS ANGELES - In less than two weeks, you can watch The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis. Usually, ahead of the air date of these things, we'll get little teasers and snippets of what happened, but this one is a bombshell.  For years, the debate on whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie has raged on. If you ask me, I'm going to tell you that it's not only a Christmas movie, but the best Christmas movie ever.
