SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane Police busted several kids accused of kicking in car windshields. It was a rash of car vandalism in North Spokane neighborhoods over a 3-week period.

Police say 30 people reported the crimes and they’re estimating $7,000 in damages to windshields so far.

Megan Presch is one of those victims. She uses her car every day for work, but she missed three days because of vandals.

“I walked out and there was footprints on my hood, my windshield was smashed in. I was so mad,” she says.

It still haunts her.

“Seeing cars on the street like I'm worried about them,” she says.

Police took all the crime check reports in relation to this and it was the same M.O. – footprints on the hood of the car and the windshield kicked in.

“It’s shocking to me,” says Officer Traci Ponto. She’s worked hard on this complicated case.

“It was a young group of kids that were ages 13-16 traveling around in packs of six to seven or greater and just kind of wreaking havoc wherever they traveled,” she says.

After she got their names, she found they were involved in other crimes too.

“I had an assault over at Shaw Middle School, I had a vehicle prowling in that same area. I had a fight at Northtown Mall,” she says.

Now after getting all the photos, interviews, and probable cause, police filed charges against these kids and sent them to the prosecutor's office.

“I think we're going to be sending quite the message,” Ofc. Ponto says.

Presch agrees.

“I hope that other people kind of see that they were caught,” she says. “I hope that other people see that and don't think that's okay because it's not.”

The group of kids is facing 18 felonies and 46 misdemeanors. One victim asked KHQ to pass along a message after all of this: “Thank you Spokane Police and Officer Ponto for their hard work.”

SPOKANE, Wash. - It's been an incredibly difficult couple of months for Kaley Hilderbrand and her family. "We're in the middle of moving from an apartment to a house," Hilderbrand said.  It's not something the mom of a brand new baby girl though she would be doing. Back in April, the soon-to-be-married mother of three was living in a north Spokane apartment complex when she received an angry letter about doing laundry at night.
