Political shenanigans alleged by Bernie Sanders supporters prove unfounded

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

There's a Facebook firestorm right now from Bernie Sanders supporters alleging that his democratic rival's campaign is trying to torpedo his caucus chances in Washington State.

But it turns out the entire ordeal stems from a Caucus informational letter mailed to someone who moved.

The allegation of "political shenanigans" started with a Facebook post made by a woman named Denise G. Denise lives in Milton, Washington, also the mailing address for a voter who's first name starts with the letter "A". The letter, meant for "A", is from Hillary Clinton's campaign and encourages "A" to show support by appearing at the upcoming March 26 Caucus. "A"'s caucus location is at his registration address, in Pacific, Washington, although the letter was still mailed to his mailing address on file in Milton, WA. The two small towns, both just east of Tacoma, WA, are only about 5 miles apart.

Denise G. posted the entire caucus letter, meant for "A", with this Facebook message:

"Got a letter from HRC today. She politely informed me to go to my incorrect caucus location on Saturday, AND told me to only arrive 30 minutes early. I am assuming she wants me to do that, so I would not have enough time to get to my correct caucus location before the doors closed. (LOL) Sorry Hill. My 19 year old son and I have already pre-registered, are leaving our home early, and walking the 2 blocks to our CORRECT caucus location, so we don't have to find parking, and can get in line early. #FeelTheBern #StillSanders"

That post led to hundreds of similar posts on Facebook, accusing the Clinton campaign of doing "shady stuff". One Reddit post claims the Clinton campaign has sent out "thousands of letters, specifically to woman 45+ with WRONG caucus information. Places and TIMES."

A Clinton spokeswoman says the caucus start at 10am and they do ask people to show up about half an hour early (930am). She says that doesn't mean they should leave their house at 9:30am, that's when they should arrive at the location.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Matthew Kelly and his family were on vacation last week. But it was cut short after they got a phone call that no homeowner wants to get when they were away. Kelly's girlfriend's father did just that, having deputies clear the house to see if anyone was inside. Thankfully there wasn't, but a lot of personal items were
