TACOMA, Wash. -

A Pierce County woman has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison in connection to her 2-year-old son's methamphetamine overdose.

The News Tribune reports that 27-year-old Alyia Iverson was sentenced Friday for manslaughter after pleading guilty.

Iverson was originally charged in July 2014 after her son Nathan died from drinking methamphetamine-laced water from his mother's bong in 2012.

Prosecutors say Nathan had ingested enough methamphetamine to kill an adult before his mother noticed he wasn't breathing nearly two hours later.

Iverson's attorney says she is a long-term addict and that she accepts responsibility for her actions.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It's been an incredibly difficult couple of months for Kaley Hilderbrand and her family. "We're in the middle of moving from an apartment to a house," Hilderbrand said.  It's not something the mom of a brand new baby girl though she would be doing. Back in April, the soon-to-be-married mother of three was living in a north Spokane apartment complex when she received an angry letter about doing laundry at night.

Spokane, Wash. Summer in Spokane means hot temperatures. That means it’s time to take the air conditioners out of their winter hibernation and put them to use “when it's time to turn on the air conditioner. It's really important that we check our furnace filters to make sure we have a clean filter," said heating and cooling specialist Jason Denman.
