SPOKANE, Wash. -

After a two-month long investigation, a 41-year-old Spokane man, Donald T. Mead, has been arrested on several felony charges for exchanging sexually explicit images with a 10-year-old girl using various social media apps.

The investigation started back in mid-January when the parents of the girl alerted Spokane Police they had discovered inappropriate images had been exchanged between their daughter and an adult male on a tablet their daughter used. Conversations between the young girl and the adult male were carried out using multiple apps including KIK, Hangouts and MEET ME.

Spokane Police took the tablet as evidence. The Spokane Police Special Victim's Unit (SVU) forensically examined the device and found a number of inappropriate images from Mead and the victim.

In March, an SVU detective pretending to be the victim, contacted Mead and in less than two hours of the initial contact, Mead started sending sexually explicit images. The detective still acting as the young girl, told Mead she was only 14-years-old. Despite that information, Mead continued to send the photos and eventually made arrangements to meet up with the girl for sex.

Mead was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail Tuesday, March 29 just after 11:15am, upon showing up at the location he thought he was meeting the victim at. Mead was booked for Attempted 3rd Degree Rape of a Child, Possession of Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct, and Communicating with a Minor for Immoral Purposes.

Spokane Police would like to warn parents to check up on what their children are doing on electronic devices. For more internet safety tips for parents and children, you can go here: http://www.nationalcac.org/prevention/internet-safety-kids.html ?

A Florida mother blames the death of her 15-year-old daughter on what she calls confusing packaging for Reese's Chips Ahoy cookies.    Kelli Travers-Stafford says her daughter Alexi mistakenly ate one of the cookies at a friend's house despite her peanut allergy, because the top of the familiar red packaging was peeled back, hiding the Reese's label.
