MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -

Washington State Patrol reports four people have been taken to the hospital, one with critical injuries, following a bad crash involving three vehicles near the intersection of Highway 902 and Craig Road in Medical Lake.

Troopers on the scene say a silver sedan was trying to cross the highway on Craig when it was clipped by an SUV headed westbound. The sedan spun and was hit a second time by a red pickup truck going eastbound on the highway. The pickup truck rolled.

The 23-year-old man driving the sedan and his 21-year-old female passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening.

The 44-year-old driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and is now in the Intensive Care Unit. His 16-year-old passenger was also taken to the hospital, but is expected to be OK.

The two people in the SUV, a 16-year-old driver and her 18-year-old passenger, were not injured in the crash and are cooperating with troopers on the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. WSP says drugs or alcohol didn't play a part in the crash.
