MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -

People who live near Craig Road and Highway 902 say they see crashes often at that intersection.

“This road, Craig Road, is 45 miles an hour. They often do 65 on this road,” says Richard Johnson. “It becomes like a freeway almost.”

Johnson has lived on Craig near Highway 902 for more than three decades. The flashing lights from cop cars are a familiar sight.

“Lot of wrecks happen there for a couple of different reasons,” he says.

He says there are visibility issues with the hill, but most of the time, “people make human errors. They go too fast. They blow the stop signs or they don't yield,” he says.

He's seen many crashes over all these years, including one where a man died.

“They can be fairly serious. I've seen the helicopter come in many times and pick people up,” he says.

He's cautious when pulling out onto the highway.

“I know what it's like. You know? I know what to watch for,” Johnson says.

He just hopes people are more careful, so no one else has to get hurt.

“To look where you're going, to pay attention, that's a big thing. Just pay attention,” he says.
