MEAD, Wash. -

A Mead woman is upset after utility crews woke her up in the middle of the night.

Hannah Hansen says she was woken up at 11 p.m. Tuesday to the sound of loud trucks and chainsaws. Cell phone video she shared with KHQ shows the crew less than 30 feet from her window.

"There is no regard for the community whatsoever," she said.

Hansen says the noise continued until 2:30 a.m.

"I was thinking alright they're just unloading stuff for tomorrow, and then they started pulling poles and throwing them on the ground,” Hansen said. “Literally throwing them on the ground."

Avista says they had permits from Spokane County to do the work and authorization to do the work at night.

A spokesperson with Avista says they chose to do the work at night because they had to cut power to businesses in the area for several hours, and didn’t want to do it during business hours.

Hansen says she wasn’t warned that crews would be working outside her window in the middle of the night.

“No one knew what was going to be going on,” she said. “Nobody knew that these power lines and chainsaws were going to be used in the morning."

Avista says the warn customers if they have to cut power, but say they will use this situation to review policy about warning customers about noise.
