KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho -

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says the man who triggered a massive manhunt earlier this week after a pursuit and shooting in the Cougar Gulch area has been arrested.

46-year-old J. Scott Salmond of Riverside, California was arrested in Spokane Friday morning. Salmond is currently on supervised probation for previous drug charges and fled transitional housing in Coeur d'Alene. He was booked on probation violation charges, however the Sheriff's Office says information was obtained through the investigation that Salmond was the one driving the stolen vehicle during Tuesday morning's pursuit.

Salmond is in the Spokane County Jail awaiting extradition to Idaho.

Region One Critical Incident Task Force members are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shots that were fired by an Idaho State Police Trooper during the pursuit. The Trooper is still on administrative leave and is scheduled to be interviewed next week.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says they are confident there are no other suspects in the case.
