Fire truck crash in Ferry County sends driver to hospital

Posted: Updated:
FERRY COUNTY, Wash. -

Washington State Patrol reports a man was taken to the hospital Saturday night after the fire truck he was driving rolled and landed in a ditch. They say defective equipment was to blame.

According to troopers, Jason A. Knapp was driving his fire truck eastbound on Cache Creek Road when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 21. Knapp attempted to turn north onto State Route 21, went across both lanes and into a ditch. The truck rolled onto its top where it came to rest on the northbound shoulder.

Knapp was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck through the passenger side windshield. The 38-year-old Inchelium man was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for treatment of his injuries.

What's the first thing you would do if you had a pet translator and you could understand your dog or cat? Recent advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning suggest the dream of communicating with your pets could become a reality.
