Update: The Spokane Police Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), with the assistance of the Cheney Police Department, located and arrested Aaron Strom just before midnight on Sunday.

Strom was located at a residence just outside of Cheney and taken into custody without incident. Strom was booked into jail for Felony Violation of a Domestic Violence Protection Order.

Update: Spokane Police are asking for the public's help finding a wanted domestic violence suspect identified as 35-year-old Aaron W. Strom. After receiving a call he was armed and suicidal, police also found out he had a warrant for City Assault.

Just before noon Sunday, police received a call from a victim of domestic violence in the area of 5100 W. Ridgecrest. Her boyfriend, Strom, was armed with a handgun and had threatened to kill himself or shoot at police to force them to shoot him. The victim was able to get safely inside her house. Strom had abandoned his vehicle before police arrived.

Officers found a replica gun in the vehicle, but it's unknown if he may have a second weapon. Officers searched the neighborhood for nearly three hours with SWAT, K9 units, and Spokane County Sheriff's Office Air 1 helicopter to ensure the safety of the surrounding neighborhood and conduct as extensive a search as possible.

The search was called off just before 3 p.m., but officers plan on staying in the neighborhood in case anyone reports suspicious activity. Strom is described as a white man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a light build, buzz cut brown hair, blue eyes and a full beard. He was last seen wearing ripped jeans and a jacket. Anyone who sees Strom or anything suspicious should call 911. Do not approach Strom.

Previous coverage:

Police have blocked off part of Indian Trail Road at Ridgecrest while they search for a man who they say may be armed.

Officers were originally called to the neighborhood because of a domestic disturbance. They believe the man may be walking around the neighborhood. Police say they recovered a weapon but say the man may still be armed.

Investigators in the area tell KHQ the man they're looking for is a convicted felon who has a warrant out for his arrest.

A K-9 officer was called in to search, but was unsuccessful. Spokane County Sheriff's Office helicopter Air One also searched the area from the air.

The man is described as a white man, last seen wearing a jacket and ripped jeans with a buzz cut and a goatee.

If you live in the area and see anything suspicious, call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
