SPOKANE, Wash. -

Farmer's markets are getting ready to kick off their season in Spokane on Saturday. Among them, there will also be a new one at Riverfront Park. While it won't open until June, the Regional Health District says there's actually been a big boom in the industry going from just three to 10 farmer's markets in Spokane County since 2013.

"Never had an opportunity, but I do now," said Fred Meyer, who runs Mama Torrez Salsas.

Meyer is gearing up for a new farmer's market with his wife. "It's farm fresh to the table or to their picnic table," said Meyer.

Meyer and his wife travel to different markets in Spokane to sell Tuesdays through Fridays but soon they'll be adding Saturday. "I've tried for a number of years and the markets that I've went to were always full and so I wasn't always able to get in."

A new market is just around the corner at Riverfront Park and there's a need for it. "We started very late in trying to get vendors and now all of a sudden we're up to 16 to 20 vendors that will be showcasing their items every weekend. So that will sort of tell you, those people didn't have a place to show off what they do," said Meyer.

Here's a list of some farmer's markets in the Spokane area:

South Perry Thursday Market: Open on Thursdays, from 3-7 pm, through October. Located at The Shop, 924 S. Perry.

Spokane Farmers' Market: Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 am-1 pm, starting May 14 and through October 29. Wednesday markets start June 8. Located at 20 W. Fifth Ave.

Kendall Yards Night Market: Open on Wednesdays from 4-7 pm, starting May 18 and through mid-October. Located on West Summit Parkway in Kendall Yards.

Emerson-Garfield Farmers' Market: Open on Fridays from 3-7 pm, starting June 10 and through September 30. Located at the SCC IEL Adult Education Center at 2310 N. Monroe.

Riverfront Park Farmers Market: New this year. Open on Saturdays, from 9 am-1 pm, starting June 4 and through September 3. Located in the park, near the Carousel.
