Date rape defense at your fingertips

Posted: Updated:
KHQ.com -

Roofies, ecstasy, special K... All are well-known "date rape" drugs.

Unfortunately, these are nothing new to college students: For them and those in the bar scene, the threat is real.

In a three-year report, Gonzaga had 50 forcible sex assaults, WSU had 30, and Eastern Washington University and the University of Idaho reported 13 each.

These odorless, colorless, tasteless drugs leave the victim weak, confused and vulnerable.

But what if students and bar patrons had safety literally at their fingertips?  Reality is closer than you think.

Watch the video to find out how four engineering students cooked up an idea that could help keep people safe from date rape drugs.
