SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Spokane Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying two suspects in a package theft. Police say just after 11 a.m., officers responded to a report of a package theft in the area of 2300 W. Kingsford on Five Mile Prairie. A witness said they watched two people steal a package off a front porch and drive off. The witness also snapped some photos.

The vehicle the suspects were in is described as a blue or dark turquoise SUV, possibly an older Toyota 4-Runner, with several bikes mounted to the roof. One suspect is described as a white man in his 20s wearing a baseball cap and long tan shorts. The other is described as a white woman also in her 20s, with blond hair and a heavy build.

Police are looking into whether these people were involved in other package thefts where a similar vehicle was described and are working with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office as well.

Anyone with information about the theft or who may know who these people are are asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.

Recent advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning suggest the dream of communicating with your pets could become a reality.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A fresh effort is underway to split California into multiple states, one including its coastal cities and the other its rural and inland areas.    "New California" is just the latest proposal to divvy up the nation's most populous state. But like efforts before it, it's highly unlikely to gain significant traction.
