CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. -

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office in Florida recently released chilling video of an attempted abduction carried out in a store in the town of Hernando. in the video you can see a man grab an unidentified 13-year-old girl and try to drag her from the store, but the girl's mother jumps into action and keeps the man from getting away with the help of an off-duty deputy.

According to the sheriff's office, they first received a call of something happening in the Dollar General store around 11:40 Tuesday morning. The suspect, identified as Craig Bonello, entered the store and grabbed the girl who was shopping with her mother. The mom was able to catch up and a "tug-of-war" ensued between Bonello and the mother. Bonello finally let go of the girl and ran out the front door of the Dollar General, just as off duty Deputy Jonathan Behnen was getting out of his patrol car to enter the store.

The store manager yelled at the deputy to stop the man and that he had just tried to kidnap the girl. Behnan jumped back into his patrol car and used it to block Bonello's getaway. With weapon in hand, the deputy ordered Bonello out of the car and took him into custody.

The mother and daughter were uninjured.

“In my ten years on the road I have never seen anything like this,” said Sgt. Craig Callahan from the scene. “He truly intended to abduct this child right in front of everyone in the store.”

Because charges are forthcoming for the suspect, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the names of those involved.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office posted the surveillance video on their Facebook page.
