PHOTOS: Remembering the victims of the Orlando Shooting

The world is mourning the loss the 49 people who were gunned down in an Orlando nightclub over the weekend. In the hours that have passed since the shooting, authorities have identified most of the 49 victims. 

The family and friends of some of those killed have offered pictures and background information on their loved ones. 

Edward Sotomayor Jr. was known to his friends as "Top Hat Eddie" and honored him on social media by using emojis of black hats. 

20-year-old Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo was a dancer and a local barista. Stanley Almodovar was a pharmacy technician loved by his family, who said the last thing he posted on social media was a video of him laughing and singing on the way to Pulse. 

Luis S. Vielma worked at Universal Studios in Orlando on the Harry Potter ride, prompting Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling to tweet out "I can't stop crying" when she heard the news.

Eric Ivan Ortiz-Rivera recently moved to Florida from Puerto Rico for a chance at a better life. His roommate told a local paper he was surprised Ortiz-Rivera was even at the club because he was "not usually a club-scene person." 

37-year-old Kimberly Morris worked at the nightclub as a bouncer and moved to Florida from a Hawaii a few months back to help her mother and her grandmother. 

30-year-old Eddie Jamoldroy Justice's mother spent an agonizing day looking for him after he texted her from the club while the shooting was happening. "Mommy I love you" he said followed by "In club they shooting." His texts suddenly went quiet after he said the gunman was in their bathroom hideout. 

Anthony Luis Laureanodisla was born in Puerto Rico and had settled in Orlando according to his Facebook. "You didn't deserve it" one person wrote on his page after finding out he was among the dead. 

'I'm gonna die': Clubgoer's mother shares terrifying text messages

Jonathan Antonio Camuy Vega was a Puerto Rican journalist. "He was a great assistant producer. ... Jonathan will be missed dearly," NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Chairman Cesar Conde said in a statement released by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

21-year-old Cory James Connell was leaving the nightclub with his girlfriend when the gunman walked in. Connell's girlfriend survived the attack. 

32-year-old Deonka Deidra Drayton was a bartender working at the club who loved basketball. 

Miguel Angel Honorato managed a Mexican restaurant in Sanford, Florida and was "an excellent person,boss and friend" according to a fellow employee. 

The youngest victim identified is 19-year-old college student Jason Benjamin Josaphat.

PHD is urging the public to use caution when recreating in or near the water. Water quality monitoring confirmed the presence of cyanobacteria, commonly known as blue-green algae. Blue-green algal blooms have the potential to produce dangerous toxins in areas of the lake.

The Pantagraph reports 78-year-old Johnny Icard was sitting alone Wednesday at a defense table in Bloomington where he had represented himself at trial. When the judge said he was revoking Icard's bond, the Bloomington man said he had family affairs to attend to and wasn't expecting the verdict.

Wednesday, both the prosecutors and the defense were hoping to begin opening arguments, but they are still tied up in motions that have delayed the start. The jury was selected in the case for Dennis Magner, but they were asked to leave while both sides continue their motions.

    CHIANG RAI, Thailand (AP) - The Thai soccer boys and their coach have attended a Buddhist ceremony at a temple to protect them against misfortunes, a day after they were discharged from a hospital following their rescue from a flooded cave. The 11 boys and the coach - the remaining team member is reportedly a Muslim - were joined by relatives and friends at the temple in the northern province of Chiang Rai, where they sat and put their hands together to the tune of chanting monks.

    PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) - A Washington state man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting a man while he was sleeping.    The Kitsap Sun reports 22-year-old Robert Hackett was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree murder. The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office says Hackett, a woman and the victim were inside a house in Manchester in January after spending the day together. Hackett later shot the victim in the arm while he slept.
