SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

Spokane Valley Sheriff's Major Crimes Detectives are looking to the public to try to identify robbery suspects caught on camera.

The photos were taken from surveillance video where the suspects tried to steal alcohol and severely beat a customer who came in to help the store clerk as he tried to stop the theft.

It happened Sunday at around 2:15 a.m. at the Zip Trip located at 8215 East Trent in Spokane Valley.

An employee of the store told responding deputies a group of men entered the store and tried to steal alcohol. When the employee tried to stop the theft, the men started assaulting him. A customer saw what was going on tried to intervene. The beating moved from inside the store out into the parking lot where the men continued to severely beat the customer who was trying to help. The customer sustained serious injuries but deputies say they were not life threatening. The clerk reported he was not seriously injured.

The four men and one woman took off westbound on Trent in a white sedan.

Anyone with information the regarding incident or who can help identify any of the suspects is asked to call Detective Keyser at 509-477-6611 and reference report #221143.
