WATCH: Woman steals change jar for shelter animals at Spokane gas station

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

Sure, this is a petty theft in the whole scheme of things, but just like no one steps on a church in Peter Venkman's town, no one steals a change jar full of money meant for shelter animals in mine!

A woman was caught on camera swiping a change jar fully of money meant for SCRAPS here in Spokane. and we need to catch her! The woman can be seen in the video bring up two water bottles to the clerk at Divine's Auto Center at Sprague and Freya. As the clerk turns her back, the woman quickly grabs a box full of donations for one of our local animal shelters. When the clerk comes back, the woman "changes her mind" about the purchase she was pretending to make and walks out.

Yeah, her total take was probably a couple of bucks, but it's the principle of the thing, and the gas station got some pretty good surveillance video of the shameless thief. If she's stooping this low, she's probably stealing from other places, too.

If you know who she is, please, for the sake of the shelter animals, call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
