Call it history in your hand. A Washington family is traveling all over the Evergreen State to map out every single historic landmark. They just made their stop in Spokane.

"This is the summer of 2016, Project WA. Our entire family is on the road traveling about 2,000 miles in Washington state," said Tim Fry. The Fry family are two weeks into a two month trip.

"Along the way, we are checking out little communities and all these little known facts," said Tim. One of Tim's favorite places in Spokane is Riverfront Park. After all, he grew up in the city. "I came down here all the time as a little boy. We rode the gondola. I learned about the Spokane Falls and why this city was even established back in the 1800's," said Tim.

Tim and his family are traveling around the state because of an app Tim and his students made at Lopez Island Middle School. It's all history based. "You'll be taken to a map and all these pins represent these historically significant places around the state. Everything from where did George Vancouver's anchor drop off of Whidbey Island to the birthplace of Kirk Cobain in Aberdeen, Washington," said Tim.

He's taken snapshots on his trip, the Ruby Theatre in Lake Chelan, the North Cascades Smoke Jumper base and Spokane's Historic Davenport Hotel.

The Fry family even wants to add KHQ to the list! KHQ has been around for 60 plus years, had the first TV program in Spokane and is considered one of the oldest NBC affiliates in the country.

"I think that earns the position in the app," said Tim.

It's a trip of a lifetime that his family won't soon forget

The app is free to download on your smartphone. It's called Washington State Insider. It's available on the Apple store here, and the Google Play store here.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - After nearly three months without a winner, the Mega Millions lottery game has climbed to an estimated $654 million jackpot. Unfortunately, even as the big prize for Tuesday night's drawing increases to the fourth-largest in U.S. history , the odds of matching all six numbers and winning the game don't improve. They're stuck at a miserable one in 302.5 million.
