POST FALLS, Idaho -

The Kootenai County Sheriff's is hoping you can help them find a fugitive that fled from a traffic stop last week.

Deputies say they attempted to stop a speeding car near McGuire Road in Post Falls just after 11:00 p.m. on July 5, but the driver fled on foot. A perimeter was set up, but the suspect was not found.

The passenger in the car, however, stayed behind and told deputies the driver was her boyfriend, 31-year-old Willis Mouton IV of Spokane Valley. She told deputies he fled because he hasn't been checking in with his probation officer and thought he had a warrant out for his arrest. He was right. Deputies confirmed a felony nationwide extraditable warrant for Escape from Community Custody.

While impounding the car, deputies found drug paraphernalia used to smoke meth and a small amount of heroin. They also found a hollowed out Bible that contained approximately 29 grams of cocaine, and a BB gun.

The passenger was not arrested at the scene.

If anyone has information as to Mouton’s whereabouts, they are asked to contact the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office at (208)446-1300. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via our website at: http://www.kcsheriff.com/anonymous-tip.html
