Spokane police arrest man wanted for weekend hit-and-run crash

SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash that sent a pregnant woman to the hospital on Saturday.

Police say a man driving a stolen Chevy Impala ran a stop sign and hit a Toyota SUV causing it to flip over into a neighbor's yard. The SUV's driver, a pregnant woman, was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but her injuries were not life threatening.

The driver of the Impala walked away from the crash and has been on the run from police since Saturday. An alert neighbor was able to snap a picture of the man as he walked away and police have been looking for him since.

On Tuesday, police say they got a tip that the man was staying in a house in the area of Maple and York in Northwest Spokane. Officers surrounded the house Tuesday evening, got a search warrant and used a K9 unit to search the house where they found him hiding.

The man has been identified as 44 year old David Brown.

He was taken into custody without incident.
