Cleveland Police Union President calls for Gov. to ban open carry at RNC

Posted: Updated:
CLEVELAND -

Just hours after three police officers were gunned down in Baton Rouge, a couple members of Northeast Ohio Carry made a point on Public Square by exercising their second amendment right.

"You should be able to carry this firearm, open or not, without having to pay for that right," one member told the media.

Cleveland Police Union President Steve Loomis won't argue with that, but thinks this is the week guns should stay home and he asked the Governor to ban open carry in Cleveland this week. That idea fell through when it was determined that the Governor didn't have that authority.

Northeast Ohio Carry said they wanted to make their point Sunday, a day before the RNC actually started because they understood police concerns. However, other groups have stated that they will open carry during protests scheduled for later this week.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Sitting silently in the back corner of his kennel here at SCRAPS, a 2-year-old miniature pinscher mix who's blind in one eye, is desperately hoping for a second chance. Back in July, Alex was adopted by a family, but less than a month later, he was dropped back off with a potentially life-threatening injury. Alex fell from a  two-story balcony, likely due to perception issues, and shattered both his front legs in the process.
