SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says the man detectives believed murdered a woman and her brother Monday morning in Spokane Valley is in custody.

Detectives believed Gilberto Delgado may have fled to southern Idaho after the murders and were in contact with several law enforcement agencies along the possible travel routes. Tuesday morning, a black Dodge Dart, matching the description of the car Delgado was believed to have fled the scene in was spotted on I-15 near Pocatello. Officers contacted Delgado and he was taken into custody without incident.

Delgado was booked into the Bingham County Jail.  ISP detectives will work with the Spokane Valley Police Department to secure search warrants for the vehicle and to extradite Delgado back to Washington to face charges.

Deputies and detectives want to thank all of the citizens who provided tips, as well as all of the law enforcement agencies who helped locate and catch Delgado.

Law enforcement has confirmed two people are dead from apparent gunshot wounds in Spokane Valley in a double homicide near 6th and Michigan.

Police say the victims are brother and sister and the suspect is still on the loose. Deputies on scene say the female victim's young son was the one who called 911 and said his mother and uncle had been killed. When deputies arrived they found the victims dead from gunshot wounds. The juvenile was not injured in the incident.

Detectives say this was not a random shooting and believe there was a connection between the victims and suspect.

Detectives are searching for 44-year-old Gilberto Delgado. He is described as a Hispanic male, 6’00” 155 pounds, brown eyes with a shaved head.  He has the name “Brenda” tattooed on one of his forearms. He is possibly driving a newer black Dodge Dart with dark tinted windows and red pen striping. Delgado is believed to be armed and considered dangerous.

Anyone who knows the location of Delgado, observes a vehicle matching this description or has information regarding this incident is urged to call 911.

According to the Idaho Department of Corrections, Delgado has a lengthy criminal history that includes Injury to a Child, Escape, Grand Theft, and Aggravated Assault. He was sentenced to prison until 2019, but was released on parole in October 2015.
