Spokane County Emergency Management not seeking fire volunteers

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

Greater Spokane Emergency Management reports that since the fires within Spokane County broke out Sunday there have been many citizens who would like to help. They say at this time they have not identified a role for citizens that are not already volunteering with local or national organizations.

However, if you'd like to be put on a list for potential volunteer activities in the future, you can call 211. Once you dial 211, they will ask for your name, address, contact phone number, particular skills, and whether you would like to be contacted after the emergency to explore volunteering with local agencies.

Greater Spokane EM asks that you only call 211 to register. 211 will then forward your contact info in case they have a need for you in the future. The 211 service is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you call and the line is busy, leave your name and number and they will call back.

SPOKANE, Wash. - From the outside, the Repeat Boutique looks like a lot of other thrift shops in Spokane.  Inside, some might describe the stuff for sale as old, used, discarded garbage -- but store manager CJ Curtis sees its potential. And just like the goods in her shop, CJ is on her way to a new life, one far from the one she once lived.
