Spokane family's church van sideswiped in hit-and-run crash

SPOKANE, Wash. -

A family errand turns into a nightmare when a car doesn’t stop, runs into them, and takes off.

Spokane Police are investigating the case, but for this family, it’s more than just losing a family van. Kimberlie Cole and her husband Harvey are a part of ministry. Harvey is an associate pastor at Mountain View Assembly of God.

They usually take Standard Road without any issues, but on August 19th, someone drove into them as they were driving home from the store. Their car is now dented all across the passenger side, to the point where the door no longer closes.

“We're foster parents. We're in ministry. We do a lot of things in the community. And so we use this a lot transporting friends and family back and forth to different things and now we don't have it. We don't have anything,” Kimberlie says.

After that happened, Kimberlie says the driver continued to drive, despite the damage to the car, and eventually ended up in the front of someone’s home blocks away. The driver wasn't on scene when Kimberlie caught up, but she says two passengers were injured and left in the car.

“These two guys don't need to get away with this,” she says.

Five of her kids were in the car at the time, and thankfully, they’re all okay. The Coles are speaking in hopes that this doesn’t happen again to someone else, and they hope the driver can get the help he needs.

The Coles do want to thank the community for their support after the crash. If you have information, call Crime Check 509-456-2233.
